A NEW ‘hot and heady’ jazz play is set to grace the soon-to-open Dishoom theatre in Kensington, London, in a 15-night extravaganza from November 27.
Inspired by the critically-acclaimed Taj Mahal Foxtrot by Naresh Fernandes, Night at the Bombay Roxy will transport audiences to the art-deco scene of 1940s Bombay with the added treat of a lavish Indian dining experience as the night unfolds.
Depicting the opening of the Bombay Roxy café and jazz club, the play follows the tale of ex-mobster Cyrus Irani as he attempts to leave the criminal underworld and transform his own life as well as the redundant Bombay Roxy in an effort to redeem himself of his murky past.
Co-founder of Dishoom and creative producer of the play, Shamil Thakrar, said: “The jazz scene in Bombay in the 1940s is one of those undiscovered treasure-chests of treats, and I can’t wait to see and hear and feel it brought to life in this new show.
“The fact that it will all be happening in our new Dishoom in the beautiful Barkers of Kensington makes it even more exciting.”
Tickets go on sale from Friday September 29. See nightatthebombayroxy.com for more details.
