Miss World 2000

Priyanka Chopra was born on 18 July 1982 in Jamshedpur, India. In 2000 her mum sent her photographs to Femina Miss India contest where she was selected and became the first runner up, which led her to participate in Miss India World, where she won the title at just 17 years old.


Bollywood Debut and Movies

Her Bollywood debut was on 2003 with the movie called The Hero: Love Story of A Spy. Since then she was the leading lady in Andaaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Aitraaz. In 2006, her performances in leading roles in top grossing products Krrish and Don, made her a strong and established actress of Bollywood. Since then Priyanka gave back to back movies like Fashion which won her the National Award for Best Actress, Kaminey, 7 Khoon Maaf, Don 2, Krrish 3, Barfi, Mary Kom and Bajirao Mastani.

Quantico and Hollywood Movies

Quantico is an American drama thriller series which aired from 2015 – 2018 on ABC. Priyanka played the role of Alex Parrish, who was a FBI recruit after graduating from FBI Academy. The role of Alex Parrish won her the Favourite Actress in New TV Series in 2016 for People’s Choice Award (PCA), which made her the first South Asian to win PCA. She also won Favourite Dramatic TV Actress in 2017 for the same role.

She played the role of Victoria Leeds in the Baywatch .  In 2018 she played the role of Amal in A Kid Like Jake, in which she was a single mother friend of Jake’s parents.

Unicef

Priyanka Chopra always contributed to social causes. She has been part of the UN’s global campaign ‘Girl Up’. Priyanka was named a Global Unicef Goodwill Ambassador, after serving as the National Goodwill Ambassador to India since 2010; where she was assign to promote child rights and adolescence. She recently visited Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh to meet Rohingya refugee children to bring awareness.

Padmashri Award, Times and Forbes

In 2016, Priyanka won the Padma Shri award, which is the fourth highest civilian award, presented by the Government of India. She was Times 100 most influential people in the world in 2016. Forbes listed Priyanka among the World’s 100 most powerful women in 2017 also.

Neil Young confirms Glastonbury performance after initial withdrawal

FOLK musician Neil Young has reversed his earlier decision to pull out of the Glastonbury music festival and will now headline the event, he announced alongside festival organisers on Friday.
