5 films that Shahid Kapoor rejected

1. Rockstar

Shahid didn't really reject the film Rockstar, but Imtiaz Ali offered him Jab We Met and Rockstar together and asked him to choose one, thus, Shahid went for Jab We Met and Rockstar went to Ranbir Kapoor.


2. Rang De Basanti

This is a film that Shahid regrets not doing. In an interview with film critic Rajeev Masand, Shahid disclosed: “I regret not doing Rang De Basanti.” It never came to light which role he was offered in the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra film, however, rumours suggested it was the role played by Siddharth Narayan.

3. Raanjhanaa

Raanjhanaa was first offered to Shahid but he declined the offer and therefore the film went to Dhanush who made his Bollywood debut with this film. The film was a major success and Dhanush became a household name.

4. Raajneeti

Another film that Shahid Kapoor lost to Ranbir Kapoor was Raajneeti. Shahid felt that the bigger names in the film will overshadow his role, and hence, he turned it down. A sequel of Rajneeti has been confirmed by the writer, director and producer Prakash Jha.

5. Shuddh Desi Romance

This is also one film that Shahid Kapoor didn't reject, but the project took too long to go on floor and the actor had other commitments. Therefore Shahid's role went to Sushant Singh Rajput which helped him to kickstart his career.

The theatre was packed for the Third Shanghai–London Screen Industry Forum. Between panels and workshops, filmmakers, producers and executives discussed ideas and business cards and it felt more than just a summit. British-Asian filmmakers were meeting and greeting the Chinese industry in an attempt to explore genuine possibilities of working in China’s film market.
