Haider was released in 2014, which was about human rights. Human rights are still massive issues around the world whether it’s a LEDC (Least Developed Countries) or MEDC (Most Developed Countries).  Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor played the lead roles in this movie. Haider was the first movie to receive People Choice Award at the Rome Film Festival.

Udta Punjab

This is was Shahid Kapoor’s second social related movie, which released in 2016. Udta Punjab is about drug abuse within the youth community in Punjab. Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh are also part of this movie.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha 

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was released in 2017. This movie was based on improving the toilet issues around the country as still a lot of people in India don’t have clean toilets. It supports the governmental campaigns to improve the condition in India. Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar play the lead characters. Toilet was Akshay’s first movie which entered the 300 crore club.

Padman

Padman was released this year and Akshay Kumar was playing the lead role along with Sonam Kapoor. This movie was based on a real story of Arunachalam Muruganatham, who was a social activist from Tamil Nadu who created low cost sanitary towel machine to help women in rural India.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu

This movie is Shahid’s third social movie, which releases today (21 September). It also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma. This movie is about electricity theft in rural India. Some homes don’t have electricity but the electric meter still runs and they pay for the bill without getting the light. Social problems related movies usually attract a wider range of audiences as it connects them quite easily with the movie.

AT THE 82nd Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, The Brutalist, the story of a Holocaust survivor chasing the American dream, and Emilia Perez, a musical thriller about a Mexican drug lord transitioning to a woman, won the top awards of the evening.

The Brutalist took home the Golden Globe for Best Drama Film, with Adrien Brody earning Best Actor in a Drama for his portrayal of an architect trying to build a life in the United States. The film also claimed the Best Director award for Brady Corbet.
