Shah Rukh Khan praises Bard of Blood star Emraan Hashmi

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan may have not signed any project post the debacle of his ambitious film Zero (2018), but he kept himself quite busy on the production front all this while. For the unversed, the Swades (2004) actor is producing a bunch of web shows for the leading streaming media giant Netflix. The first series that he is coming up with is the hugely anticipated spy thriller Bard of Blood.

Bard of Blood is based on a 2015 Indian fictional espionage thriller novel by the same name, written by debutant author Bilal Siddiqi. The trailer of the series was dropped a couple of days ago, which garnered overwhelming response from all the corners, mirroring viewers’ anticipation for it.

The series is headlined by Emraan Hashmi, Kirti Kulhari and Vineet Kumar Singh. Hashmi, who is making his digital debut with Bard of Blood, is playing an Indian spy named Kabir Anand in the series.

Praising the actor and how he fit the bill, Shah Rukh Khan said, “Initially, we were joking about how Emraan’s image is going to turn a serial kisser to a serious kicker. Emraan is a tough guy. Kabir Anand’s character is that of someone who is not in-your-face tough, but has a macho personality and works with his mind, plus there is a physical ability of an action hero and I think that mix perfectly fits Emraan”.

Bard of Blood is directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, who has previously helmed the Amitabh Bachchan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vidya Balan starrer TE3N (2016). It is an eight-episode series which also features Jaideep Ahlawat, Amyra Dastur and Sobhita Dhulipala in important roles. Bard of Blood begins streaming on 27th September.
