Aanand L Rai praises Saif Ali Khan for acing role in Laal Kaptan

Apart from directing several successful films over the years, filmmaker Aanand L Rai has also backed a number of interesting stories as a producer. His next production venture is Laal Kaptaan which has created a lot of buzz ahead of its theatrical release on 18th October. 

Helmed by Navdeep Singh, Laal Kaptaan features National Film Award winning actor Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. Khan essays the character of a Naga Sadhu seeking revenge. Talking about Saif, Aanand L Rai says that the actor is adventurous and is always willing to try something new.


“Saif’s journey in the film is full of drama, revenge, and deceit. Navdeep has done a lot of research for every character that is a part of the narrative. I feel that the passion that these two bring to the table is amazing. Saif is adventurous and is always willing to try something new. He is ready to experiment with roles, and it was time he was offered something like this. I am sure the audience will connect with the film,” says the filmmaker.

The filmmaker goes on to add that he is happy with the way director Navdeep Singh has dealt with the subject of the film. “I am happy that Navdeep Singh, who has directed the film, has dealt with the subject in a sensitive manner. I am also excited that Saif will be seen essaying a role that he has never attempted before. He plays a vengeful Naga sadhu, and I think this is one of his most powerful roles,” says the filmmaker in conclusion.

Directed by Navdeep Singh, who is known for helming Anushka Sharma's critically and commercially successful film NH 10 (2014), Laal Kaptaan is co-produced by Eros International and Colour Yellow Productions. The movie is slated to hit the marquee on October 18, 2019.
