Actor Tarun Gahlot opens up about his character in Kedarnath

Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor’s latest offering Kedarnath, which revolves around high rainfall and flooding of Uttarakhand in 2013, has opened to good reviews. Apart from Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput, actor Tarun Gahlot is also seen playing an important role in the movie.

Talking about his role in the film, Gahlot says, “My character’s name is Kailash and the role is of a Pithu (carrier) leader who fulfils the demands of Pithus by negotiating with the Mandals. He is a very honest man. While Sushant is the main Pithu, my role is to constantly support his honesty and fight for what is good and in favour of all."

Kedarnath marks the acting debut of Bollywood actors Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan. Critics have hailed her performance in the film.

When Gahlot is asked about his experience working with the debutante, he says, “Sara is a very humble person. For a debutante, she was very professional, mature and a very positive energy on set. Working with her has been a wonderful experience. Though my scenes were very limited with her, Sara used to fold her hands and say, ‘Namaste’. She would stand in the queue for food along with the rest of the team. But I realised through the shoot that she is genuinely a very humble and respectful human being.”

The actor says though it has been challenging working on Kedarnath, it was a very beautiful and rejuvenating experience. “Working on this film has been very challenging because we have worked in extreme conditions, shot in freezing cold in the rain in Kedarnath and then in Mumbai’s extreme heat,” he says, adding, “Of course, I've had a beautiful experience working on this film. It's been a very rejuvenating experience to have shot at Kedarnath, the journey itself has been spiritual which synced with the vibe of the film.”

Tarun thanks his director and casting director for the opportunity. “I would like to thank Abhishek sir and my casting director Mukesh Chabbra for this wonderful opportunity and to the whole team for being the family they have been. Please go experience this beautiful spiritual love story and I wish the best for our film.”
