After Raaz Reboot, Emraan Hashmi signs another horror flick

After headlining Raaz: The Mystery Continues (2009), Raaz 3D (2012) and Raaz Reboot (2016), Emraan Hashmi has signed yet another horror flick. The actor, who was most recently seen in T-Series Films’ Why Cheat India (2019), has come onboard to topline the Hindi remake of hit Malayalam movie, Ezra (2017).

Written and directed by Jay Krishnan, Ezra starred southern superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. Made on a shoestring budget, the movie went on to become one of the highest grossers of 2017 by earning over ₹ 50 crores domestically. Emraan is set to essay the role originally played by Prithviraj.


"Horror is a genre with immense potential. A well-made horror film will always draw audiences in huge numbers to cinema halls," Emraan said in a statement. He went on to add, "With Ezra, we hope to push the boundaries further and give the audience an experience that they will never forget. I'm happy to be associating with Kumarji and Abhishek on this film and with Jay at the helm of things all I can say is be prepared for one hell of a spooky ride."

As mentioned by the actor, the Hindi remake is being bankrolled by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak. Ezra helmer Jay Krishnan will direct the remake as well. The makers have locked locations in Mumbai and Mauritius to shoot the film. The casting for the female lead is on and an official announcement will be made soon.

Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi has just wrapped up a Netflix original titled Bard Of Blood. The digital series is produced by Shah Rukh Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment.

Northern Ireland approves extension of post-Brexit trade rules

NORTHERN Ireland’s devolved government has voted to continue implementing post-Brexit trading arrangements under the Windsor Framework, a deal signed between London and the European Union in February 2023.

THE bereavement rates due to Covid in Scotland have been highest among those identifying with ‘Any other’ ethnic group (68 per cent), followed by Indians (44 per cent) and Pakistanis (38 per cent), a new study revealed. This is significantly higher than the national average of around 25 per cent.
