Ajay Devgn to commence Syed Abdul Rahim biopic shoot in July

Superstar Ajay Devgn, who is presently busy promoting his upcoming film De De Pyaar De, will start shooting for the much-awaited Syed Abdul Rahim biopic in July. The film, to be directed by Badhaai Ho (2018) fame Amit Sharma, will be wrapped up in a four-month-long start-to-finish schedule.

A source close to the team reveals to a tabloid that actors who have been roped in to play key players in the movie have been practising rigorously at a ground in Mumbai since March-end.

“They have been training at a Santacruz ground for two hours every morning since March-end with PV Vinoy, former striker and chief coach of Western Railways. Ajay, who has been supervising the prep in-between other shoots, will soon begin his own training,” the source tells.

The source goes on to add that the first leg of the shooting will be kicked-off in Mumbai. After completing the week-long schedule in Mumbai, the team will fly to Lucknow to commence a 40-day long shooting schedule.

“After a break, they will return to the city for another 15 days of work before heading to Kolkata. Amit is finalising international locations. Jakarta, Rome and Melbourne are in contention,” the source adds.

Produced by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla and Arunava Joy Sengupta, the untitled biopic sheds light on the journey of the Indian football team, how it reached the semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics and clocked a Gold medal at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta when Syed was the coach.

The release date of the movie is yet to be announced.
