Ajay Devgn on working with Kajol for a film

As per the latest reports, Ajay Devgn and Kajol are planning to come together for a film. Their last film together was in 2008 film U Me Aur Hum. In an interview with a leading Indian daily, Ajay Devgn was asked about what made him do no film with Kajol after U Me Aur Hum, Ajay said, "Kajol and I are at a stage in our respective careers where we cannot play stereotypical characters. Unless a writer or a filmmaker comes forward with a script that is challenging and justifies our presence in the same film, it’s going to be hard for us to act together. When we were younger, it was a breeze doing something like Hulchul (1995), Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998), or Raju Chacha (2000)."

"Years later, I directed her in U Me Aur Hum. I’d love to do a movie with her and I’m sure, if you ask Kajol, her answer would also be the same. However, a routine love story may not be the ideal script for us at this stage because we’ve been married for two decades," added Ajay.

On the professional front, Kajol is currently occupied with the shoot of Eela which is an adaptation of Gujarati play, Beta Kaagdo. The film will be directed by Pradeep Sarkar.

Earlier, speaking about the film, Kajol said to a leading Indian daily, "I liked the script honestly, liked the lines, everything. I like my character of Eela (a single mother), I identify with many of her things."

Talking about Eela, Pradeep said, "I was offered the script around four months ago. It took me a while to understand the Gujarati tone but eventually, I fell in love with this extremely emotional story which boasts of some really strong characters and there's a chance of people getting really close to them."

"I am getting involved in the dialogue and character-building as there are a few insights that I want to incorporate to make the film more endearing. This is not like Parineeta, where everything was detailed, this is more free-flowing, a character and music driven film," the filmmaker added.

Ajay Devgn will be seen as the Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax in the upcoming film Raid starring opposite Ileana D’Cruz. The film is Raj Kumar Gupta’s directorial.
