Ajay Devgn’s Chanakya to be made in two parts

If you remember, filmmaker Neeraj Pandey had announced in 2018 that he was set to collaborate with superstar Ajay Devgn for a period film based on the life of 4th century BC scholar Chanakya. The project has taken some time getting started. However, if latest reports are to be believed, the project is very much on track and will begin production once the final draft of the script is locked.

We also here that filmmaker Neeraj Pandey has decided to turn the project into a mini-franchise by presenting it in two parts. A portal reports that with period films courting controversies with certain segments of the audience, Pandey is taking every possible step to ensure that his story remains as close to the truth as possible, without hurting anyone’s sentiments.


Ajay Devgn is kicked about teaming up with Neeraj Pandey for the first time in his career. The superstar says that he has observed Pandey’s work closely and he will tell this story with the clarity and passion that it needs to be told. “I am truly looking forward to playing Chanakya. I have observed Neeraj Pandey’s work closely and I know Neeraj will tell this story with the clarity and passion that it needs to be told,” says the actor.

Pandey, who last helmed the Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra starrer Aiyaary (2018), says that he is sure that the audience will love Devgn’s portrayal of the visionary genius. “I have been developing this film on Chanakya for some time now. It is an exciting work of passion for me, and I am sure audiences will love Ajay’s portrayal of the visionary genius.”

Ajay Devgn, meanwhile, is busy with a number of high-profile projects. Some of his upcoming films include Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Bhuj: The Pride of India, RRR and a sports biopic with Badhaai Ho (2018) director Amit Sharma.
