Arjun Patiala: The trailer of Diljit Dosanjh, Kriti Sanon and Varun Sharma starrer is hilarious

Spoof comedy is a genre that Bollywood filmmakers have not tried much. Last year’s release Welcome To New York was a spoof comedy starring Sonakshi Sinha and Diljit Dosanjh, but unfortunately, the film failed to make a mark at the box office. Now this year, Diljit Dosanjh has once again starred in spoof comedy titled Arjun Patiala. The film also stars Kriti Sanon and Varun Sharma in the lead roles.

The makers of Arjun Patiala have released the trailer and it is hilarious. It has moments that will make you laugh out loud. But of course, it will be interesting to see what will be the audience’s response to this film as Bollywood moviegoers are not much familiar with spoof comedy genre. Diljit Dosanjh is quite good in the trailer and Kriti Sanon also leaves a mark. But it is Varun Sharma who steals the show with his act. He has performed very well and we love his name in the film, Onida. By the way, it’s good to see Sunny Leone in a Bollywood film again after a gap of around two years.

While talking about the film, Kriti had earlier told us, “Arjun Patiala is a different kind of comedy. It’s a spoofy comedy, which I don’t think has been done much in the industry before. It has been done a lot in the west, for example, parody movies like Deadpool and Scary Movie. Arjun Patiala is a fresh take on comedy. We are making fun of how a buddy cop film is like while making the same buddy cop movie. So I think, it is a film that is really gonna crack you up. Arjun Patiala is different in terms of the flavour of comedy. I feel this film will connect with the kids very well because the way things are being shown in it. I can’t explain why and how, but there is a lot for the kids to enjoy.”

Directed by Rohit Jugraj, Arjun Patiala is slated to release on 26th July 2019. It will be clashing with Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao starrer Mental Hai Kya and Sonakshi Sinha’s Khandaani Shafakhana.

Rami Malek and Indira Varma star in The Old Vic’s Oedipus adaptation

The Old Vic in London has unveiled its latest production, a fresh adaptation of Sophocles’ timeless tragedy Oedipus, featuring Academy Award winner Rami Malek and Olivier Award winner Indira Varma in the lead roles. The play, which runs until March 29, 2025, promises to be a gripping reimagining of the ancient Greek tale, blending drama, dance, and music under the co-direction of Matthew Warchus and choreographer Hofesh Shechter.

Malek takes on the role of Oedipus, the king determined to save his city from a devastating plague by uncovering the truth behind the murder of his predecessor, King Laius. Varma plays Jocasta, Oedipus’ wife, whose connection to the unfolding tragedy adds layers of complexity to the story. The production also features a strong supporting cast, including Nicholas Khan as Creon, Joseph Mydell as the Corinthian, Cecilia Noble as Tiresias, and Nicholas Woodeson as the Shepherd. The Hofesh Shechter Company’s dancers bring a different energy to the stage, strengthening the emotional intensity of the whole narrative.
