Atul Lakhani bags The Pride of India Award at the House of Lords

THE boss of Sanjay Foods was honoured with a prestigious award at an event organised by the NRI World Summit recently.

Atul Lakhani received ‘The Pride of India Award’ in recognition for his company’s professional, creative, innovative, and forward-thinking contribution to the hospitality industry in the UK.


The awards ceremony, which was held at the House of Lords, was hosted by Lord Diljit Rana MBE, the president of the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin.

Lakhani, chief executive officer and managing director of Sanjay Foods, said: “I feel both honoured and privileged to be recognised at such a prestigious awards ceremony, especially as the recognition comes from literally the other side of the world.”

The NRI (Non-Resident Indians) Board is a non-profit organisation which aims to connect NRIs across the globe and provide a platform for Indians living in India and abroad.

This year’s event titled 'How to Change a Life' was organised by Manu Jagmohan Singh.

It honoured philanthropists, entrepreneurs, journalists, academics, and others for their contribution in creating a stronger and better local community.

The City of Leicester had a strong presence at this year’s awards with entrepreneur Don Kotak, financial services executive Bijna Dasani, civic leader Resham Singh Sandhu, businessman Vic Sethi, and publisher Romail Gulzar in attendance.

Now in its 16th year, Sanjay Foods has won many national accolades, including the Best Caterer in the Midlands at the British Asian Wedding Awards in 2015 and the Regional Caterer of the Year at the Asian Business Awards 2016.

BRITAINs economy returned to growth with a strong expansion of 0.5 per cent in February, official data showed on Friday (11), beating economists' expectations and showing it was on a slightly firmer footing as it braces for the impact of US tariffs.

The monthly gross domestic product growth was the strongest since March 2024 and beat all forecasts in a Reuters poll of 30 economists, which had pointed to a 0.1 per cent rise. Previous January data showing a small contraction was revised up to show zero growth.
