Bhushan Kumar convinces Big B to star in Jhund

T-Series head Bhushan Kumar has convinced megastar Amitabh Bachchan to rejoin the cast of upcoming Hindi film, Jhund. The superstar had opted out of the project due to it being delayed several times in the past.

Jhund is being directed by acclaimed Marathi filmmaker and screenwriter, Nagraj Manjule, whose directorial venture, Sairat (2016), catapulted him to new heights in Marathi cinema. It will mark his entry into Bollywood as a filmmaker.

The director had signed Senior Bachchan in 2017 itself. But when the project could not take off on time due to various reasons, the actor quit it and moved on to other projects. However, now the project has been taken over by Bhushan Kumar, who will co-produce it with Nagraj Manjule, and Savita and Raaj Hiremath.

“Mr Bachchan had even returned the signing amount to the former producers but when Bhushan heard the script he really liked it. He decided to back the film and subsequently met him to bring him back. The makers are now working on getting fresh dates from Mr Bachchan for the shoot,” reveals a source close to the development.

Bhushan is happy to join hands with Amitabh Bachchan after Bhootnath Returns (2014). “I am glad that the project will take off soon and I am getting an opportunity to work with Amitji again. When Savita Hiremath got the script to me and I saw Nagraj’s dedication to the subject, it made me want to back it. The subject is very good,” says the producer.

Pre-production work has begun. The film will mount the shooting floor soon.
