Birthday Special: Top 10 performances of Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit has been in the industry for the past 36 years. The actress is mainly known for her dance numbers and she is undoubtedly one of the best dancers we have in Bollywood. But well, apart from being a good dancer, she has proved her mettle as an actress.

Today, as Madhuri Dixit celebrates her 53rd birthday, let’s look at the list of top 10 performances of the actress.


Tezaab

One of the most memorable characters of Madhuri Dixit has to be Mohini from Tezaab. She gave a fantastic performance in the 1988 release and, of course, how can we forget the song Ek Do Teen.

Dil

Indra Kumar’s Dil starring Madhuri Dixit and Aamir Khan is clearly one of the best romantic films made in Bollywood. It was a super hit at the box office and Madhuri Dixit’s performance was appreciated a lot in it. She even won the Filmfare Best Actress award for her performance in the movie.

Beta

Indra Kumar’s Beta was titled on Anil Kapoor’s character in the film and also starred a veteran actress like Aruna Irani as his mother in the movie. But it was Madhuri Dixit who stole the show and once again won accolades for her performance in the movie.

Khalnayak

Just like Beta, Subhash Ghai’s Khalnayak was also named after the character of the male lead played by Sanjay Dutt. Well, Sanjay Dutt gave a fantastic performance in the film, but Madhuri Dixit too proved her mettle as an actress in the film. And of course, the song Choli ke Peeche Kya Hai was one of the highlights of the movie.

Anjaam

1994 release Anjaam is clearly one of the best films of Madhuri Dixit. We talk about women-centric films being made nowadays. But well, in 1994 Madhuri did a woman-centric film like Anjaam and impressed one and all.

Hum Aapke Hain Koun

When we talk about the top performances of Madhuri Dixit, we have to have Hum Aapke Hain Koun on our list. She gave a wonderful performance in the movie and won awards for it.

Mrityudand

In the year 1997, Madhuri Dixit starred in a film titled Mrityudand. It was a fantastic movie and Dixit’s performance was simply outstanding. In the same year, she starred in Dil Toh Pagal Hai and won an award for it. But it was her performance in Mrityudand that deserved awards.

Pukar

While in the late 90s and early 2000 there were many new actresses making a mark, Madhuri Dixit was still going strong. She gave a memorable performance in 2000 release Pukar.

Devdas

In 2002, Madhuri Dixit starred in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas. She played the role of Chandramukhi, a courtesan, and impressed one and all. She won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in the movie.

Dedh Ishqiya

After Devdas, Madhuri Dixit took a sabbatical and then made her comeback with 2007 release Aaja Nachle. The movie failed to make a mark at the box office and then the actress decided to take a break once again. It was in 2014 when she made a comeback once again with Dedh Ishqiya. Her performance was one of the highlights of the movie and it is also one of the first films to have a mainstream actress playing the role of a lesbian.
