Boney Kapoor to not produce Sridevi biopic

There is no denying the fact that Sridevi is one of the most iconic actresses the world has ever seen. Her sudden passing away on 24th February 2018 left a void which nobody else can occupy. Talks about a biopic on the late legendary actress have been around for quite some time now but nothing has materialised yet. However, if industry insiders are to be believed, the biopic is imminent.

Earlier, it was presumed that Boney Kapoor would bankroll the project under his production house. But the latest we hear that since the filmmaker is still grieving the loss of his beloved wife, it is impossible for him to produce the biopic.

“Even now, two years after the incident, Boney weeps like a baby every time Sridevi’s name comes up in any conversation. He cannot create that distance required to make a film on her,” a source in the know informs a popular publication.

Other sources reveal that another producer is likely to onboard to produce the biopic. “Nothing has been finalised yet, but talks are on with a number of major studios. One of them even wants to make the biopic with Madhuri Dixit playing Sridevi.”

In her illustrious career, Sridevi went on to star in 300 movies made in various popular language across India. She was the highest paid actress of her time whose mere presence in a film guaranteed humongous success at the box-office. She was called the female superstar of Indian cinema for a reason.

Sridevi was last seen in Mom (2017), directed by Ravi Udyawar. The crime thriller received great critical and commercial success. It went on to bag two awards at the 65th National Film Awards: Best Actress for Sridevi, marking the first posthumous win in the category and Best Background Score for A.R. Rahman.

More details on her biopic are awaited.
