Confirmed: Kareena onboard to play the female lead in Angrezi Medium

Fans have been rejoicing ever since they heard that Irrfan Khan had started shooting for the sequel to his 2017 film, Hindi Medium, after battling neuroendocrine tumour. The movie, which went on the shooting floor on 5th April, stars Pataakha (2018) fame Radhika Madan as Khan’s daughter.

The original film had popular Pakistani actress Saba Qamar playing Khan’s love interest in it. But since Bollywood has imposed a blanket ban on Pakistani artists working in India, her presence in Angrezi Medium was out of question and hence, the makers had been on look-out for the female lead opposite Irrfan Khan for a long time.

Speculations have been rife of late that super gorgeous Kareena Kapoor Khan was in talks with the makes for the female lead role. Now, Radhika Madan, who plays the parallel female lead of the movie, has confirmed that Bebo has indeed come onboard as the female lead of Angrezi Medium.

The newbie confirmed the news on social media. She shared a picture of clapboard from the sets of the flick and tagged Irrfan Khan and Homi Adajania, along with has-tagging Kareena Kapoor Khan and producer Dinesh Vijan’s names. “As excited as the man behind! So, so, so grateful for this new journey. @irrfan @homster @maddockfilms #kareenakapoorkhan #dineshvijan,” she captioned the image.

Besides Irrfan Khan, Radhika Madan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, Angrezi Medium also stars talented actor Deepak Dobriyal. The movie is being helmed by Cocktail (2012) fame Homi Adajania.

TroyBoi returns to his Indian roots with Rootz EP using Lata Mangeshkar’s voice to redefine British diaspora music

Highlights:

  • TroyBoi’s five-track EP Rootz is a personal return to the sounds of his childhood, released via Ultra Records in September 2025.
  • The single Kabhi uses an officially cleared sample of Lata Mangeshkar’s vocal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
  • Collaborations with Amrit Maan, Jazzy B and BombayMami plug Punjabi, Bhangra and south-Asian textures directly into modern trap and bass production.
  • This EP is part of a wider wave: British artists born into diasporas are using heritage not as garnish but as foundation.

Some albums hit you in ways you don’t see coming. Rootz is one of them. Not just another trap EP. TroyBoi, the London-born producer known for global bass and trap, has made something that’s also deeply personal. He didn’t just want to make music that bangs in clubs; instead, he wanted to reach back to the India of his childhood. And he did it with Rootz.

The track everyone’s talking about is Kabhi. Because it’s not just sampling Bollywood. Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was officially cleared for use on a non-Bollywood release, a milestone reported by multiple outlets. It’s history. It’s memory. And it’s a bridge.
