Confirmed: Meera Syal to play Verin in The Wheel of Time 2

There is some exciting news for the fans of Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time. After two years of speculation, it has been finally confirmed that renowned actress Meera Syal is set to play Verin Mathwin in the second season of the popular fantasy show.

It is no secret that Syal was cast in The Wheel of Time Season 2 since late 2021, but there was no official word on who she might play.

The news about Syal joining the cast to play Verin was shared by Nerdist in a post that was retweeted by the official Twitter for The Wheel of Time.

Verin is first introduced in book two, The Great Hunt, so it makes sense the audience will see her in season two. For those not in the know, Verin is a member of the Brown Ajah of the Aes Sedai and an extremely important character in the story.

Sayal’s previous credits include Netflix's The Sandman, where she played Erica, an ally of Joanna Constantine and the original character based on Rick the Vic of DC Comics. The BAFTA winner was also seen in a special appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Doctor Strange.

As of right now, there is no official date for the premiere of The Wheel of Time Season 2, but we are expecting to land on Amazon Prime Video sometime this year.
