Coolie No. 1 motion poster out

Motion poster of renowned filmmaker David Dhawan’s next directorial, Coolie No. 1, has been unveiled. As the title suggests itself, the movie is an official remake of his 1995 cult comic-caper by the same name. While the original film starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in lead roles, the remake features Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan as the lead pair.

Varun Dhawan, who reteams with his filmmaker father, David Dhawan, for the third time after hits like Main Tera Hero (2014) and Judwaa 2 (2017), on Sunday unveiled the motion poster of Coolie No. 1 on his Twitter handle. "Mujhe pata hai ki aapko pata hai. Aapko pata hai ki mujhe pata hai. Lekin kya aapko voh pata hai jo mujhe pata hai? #1May2020 #CoolieNo.1," tweeted the Bollywood star.

The team commenced the first shooting schedule of the film in Bangkok earlier this week. This is the first time when Varun Dhawan has joined hands with newcomer Sara Ali Khan for a film. Besides Varun and Sara, the audience will also see seasoned actors Paresh Rawal and Johny Lever essaying important characters in the comic-caper. The movie is set to roll into theatres on 1st May, 2020.

Varun, who was last seen in Dharma Productions’ period drama Kalank (2019), recently wrapped up his much-awaited dance film, Street Dancer 3D, with Shraddha Kapoor. The movie reunites Varun and Shraddha with filmmaker Remo D'souza after ABCD 2 (2015), which was a big box-office success.

As for Sara Ali Khan, she has just wrapped up her third Bollywood outing, Aaj Kal. She pairs up opposite rising Bollywood star Kartik Aaryan in the film which has been directed by ace storyteller Imtiaz Ali. Aaj Kal is slated to hit the marquee on 14th February, 2020.

You arrive in Kochi, and it feels like the sea air makes everything slightly sharper; faces in the city look purposeful, a film poster peels at the corner of a wall. In a city that has cradled a thriving film industry for decades, a single crime on the night of 17 February 2017 ruptured the ordinary: an abduction, a recorded sexual assault and a survivor who reported it the next day. What happened next is every woman’s unspoken nightmare, weaponised into brutal reality. It was a public unpeeling of an industry’s power structures, a slow-motion fight over evidence and testimony, and a national debate about how institutions protect (or fail) women.

For over eight years, her fight for justice became a mirror held up to an entire industry and a society. It was a journey from the dark confines of that car to the glaring lights of a courtroom, from being a silenced victim to becoming a defiant survivor whose voice sparked a revolution. This is not just the story of a crime. It is the story of what happens when one woman says, "Enough," and the tremors that follow.
