Daisy Shah turns professional rifle shooter

Choreographer-turned-actress Daisy Shah is branching out to a new profession. The actress, who was last seen in Salman Khan’s Race 3 (2018), has received her license from the National Rifle Association of India in May. She began learning rifle shooting two years ago and now is ready to participate in rifle shooting competition scheduled to be held in August.

Talking about how it all started, the actress tells an Indian daily, “It started off for fun with me accompanying some friends who were into shooting for practice. Prodded by them, when I gave it a try, they pronounced that I was a natural at it and should pursue it further. I did get into the Nationals in May but didn’t win against contestants who had scored as high as 580 and 597 out of 600. Mine was 497 which wasn’t too bad and now I have my licence too.”

She adds that she is training under coach Moraad Ali Khan, an Arjuna Award Winner, for Point 22 rifle shooting competition in August. “Now I have started training for the Point 22 rifle shooting competition in August under my coach Moraad Ali Khan, who is an Arjuna awardee. I practice at the Maharashtra Rifle Association for at least two hours every day. This sport requires complete dedication and is very therapeutic. You have to have a blank mind when you shoot, which is a kind of meditation too,” she adds.

On the work front, Daisy Shah is working on her Gujarati debut with a film called Gujarati 11. Reportedly, it will be a sports film directed by Jayant Gilatak. Shah plays the role of a football coach in the film.
