Deepika Padukone thrilled about film with Shakun Batra

The reigning queen of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone, is keeping quite busy these days. The actress is going all out to promote her forthcoming film Chhapaak, based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Apart from playing the lead role in the socially-relevant film, the actress has also co-produced it along with Mriga Productions and Fox Star Studios.

After the release of Chhapaak on 10th January, Deepika will move on to work on her next film. The untitled project will be helmed by Kapoor & Sons (2016) fame Shakun Batra and costars newcomers Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi in important roles. The actress recently spoken about the untitled film and her excitement for it.


“Ananya is someone who I have been meeting often of late and I am really fond of her. She is a really bright, talented girl. Siddhant, I had the opportunity of meeting him several times and he is extremely talented. But more importantly, they are just really lovely passionate people,” said the actress.

Talking about filmmaker Shakun Batra, Deepika said that she always wanted to work with him because he is someone who portrays relationships beautifully on celluloid. “Shakun is someone I have been dying to work with. I have really looked forward to this moment. I am a huge fan of his work and think he is one of those few people who can really portray relationships beautifully. And you know, those are the kinds of films that I have enjoyed watching as an audience, and even as an actor, those are the kinds of films I enjoy performing,” she said in conclusion.

The yet-to-be-titled movie is being bankrolled by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. It is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on Valentine’s Day 2021.

Northern Ireland approves extension of post-Brexit trade rules

NORTHERN Ireland’s devolved government has voted to continue implementing post-Brexit trading arrangements under the Windsor Framework, a deal signed between London and the European Union in February 2023.

'Covid bereavement rates in Scotland highest among Asians'

THE bereavement rates due to Covid in Scotland have been highest among those identifying with ‘Any other’ ethnic group (68 per cent), followed by Indians (44 per cent) and Pakistanis (38 per cent), a new study revealed. This is significantly higher than the national average of around 25 per cent.
