Deepika Padukone to have a dance number in Gangubai Kathiawadi?

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who last helmed the much-loved historical drama Padmaavat (2018), is currently busy with his next directorial offering Gangubai Kathiawadi. And if reports are to be believed, the filmmaker may reunite with his Padmaavat actress Deepika Padukone again. Yes, you heard that absolutely right!

Reportedly, Bhansali is planning multiple special appearances in Gangubai Kathiawadi. While the visionary filmmaker has locked most the casting, he is yet to finalize an A-list actress for a dance cameo in the movie.

“He had locked Ajay Devgn to play the role of a gangster whereas for the second guest appearance, he had approached three actors – Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan but all of them turned it down. Now, they have locked Shantanu Maheshwari for that part. But for the third cameo, which requires a top A-list actress, the search is still on,” a source in the know informs an entertainment portal.

The source goes on to add, “Bhansali has been in discussions with both Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone for the part. It is actually not a role but just a dance number. Katrina had almost been locked for the part, but now the team is toying with the idea of going ahead with DP. They will take a call once the lockdown is over and things start getting back to normal. It is a beautiful song that will be shot on a lavish set and will be one of the biggest highlights of the movie. Once the shoot begins, the team will lock the dates and shoot the song over a period of three to four days.”

Gangubai Kathiawadi features Alia Bhatt in the title role. This is the first time when the talented actress has teamed up with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, one of the filmmakers she always wanted to work with.
