Diana Penty to star opposite Shahid Kapoor in Ali Abbas Zafar’s next

Bollywood actress Diana Penty, who can currently be seen in Salute (2022) which marks her debut in Malayalam cinema, will reportedly play the female lead opposite Shahid Kapoor in filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar’s next directorial venture.

A leading Indian publication reports that Penty, known for such films as Cocktail (2012), Happy Bhaag Jayegi (2016), and Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran (2018), will be sharing the screen space with Kapoor for the first time.

“Diana has a very strong role in the film and was extremely happy to be a part of the project. Meanwhile, they have completed shooting for the film, and Ali has got busy with its post-production now,” a source in the know informs the publication.

While wrapping the film, Zafar had previously announced, “Action has always been one of my favourite genres and the thrill of making action movies on set is even a greater experience. Film Wrap! Thank you, Shahid Kapoor and the entire team for making these last 6 months super fun.”

Not much else is known about the forthcoming venture at the moment, but some highly placed industry sources reveal that it is the Hindi adaptation of the 2011 French film Nuit Blanche. Kapoor reportedly plays the role of a cop who is chasing drug lords across the city.

Nuit Blanche has earlier been remade in Tamil and Telugu with award-winning actor Kamal Haasan under the titles Thoongaa Vanam and Cheekati Rajyam respectively.
