Director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba confirms Fukrey 3 being in the works

Featuring Pulkit Samrat, Ali Fazal, Varun Sharma and Richa Chadha in lead roles, Fukrey is one of the most successful comedy franchises Bollywood has ever produced. After the massive success of Fukrey Returns in 2017, the makers have been asked this a million times as to when are they planning to bring the third instalment of the franchise.

Finally, director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba has confirmed that the third instalment of the blockbuster franchise is already in the works. He tells a publication that the team has cracked an idea to take the story forward, adding that they are also working on two other scripts.

"We are right now developing the third part, along with this we are developing two other scripts. Fukrey 3 is definitely being written. But we want to maintain the quality. We have written drafts for Fukrey 3 which we have not liked. We are conscious that what we put out should be better. There was a reason that the first and second part had a long gap," the writer-director said.

Lamba, who recently turned producer with the Sonakshi Sinha starrer Khandaani Shafakhana (2019), added that writing a sequel to an already successful franchise is always difficult.

"The pressure increases as the film instalments increase. The audience has to be engaged not just in jokes and actions but story. We are confident about writing jokes, once we know the situation. But we need a good story first. There is one idea we are now currently working on, which is a mad one. It takes the story ahead but needs some time to cook," he concluded.

Since the second instalment of the franchise had retained the original cast, we can expect them in Fukrey 3 as well. However, an official announcement will be awaited.
