Emraan Hashmi on celebrating his birthday under quarantine

The coronavirus pandemic has turned out to be a big party pooper for millions of people across the globe. In these times of social distancing, all one can expect on his or her birthday are a few best wishes over the phone, some messages and video-calling because, as we all know, parties are completely off-limits under lockdowns.

On Tuesday, Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi turned 41, but he was not at all psyched up about the occasion. The actor, who celebrated his birthday at home amid social distancing, hopes he does not have to do it again.

“It is a strange time we are living in right now. This is a birthday I will never forget, and I hope it is the only one I am spending under quarantine,” says the actor known for delivering riveting performances in a number of films.

Hashmi goes on to add that though it is frustrating being locked up, it is for the greater good. “None of us were prepared for this, but I think it’s the new normal, which we are all getting used to. Yes, it’s frustrating being locked up, but it’s for the greater good,” he states.

When asked how did he finally celebrate his special day amid lockdown, the actor reveals that he read and watched a film, while his wife baked him a cake and son made him a card. “Ordering from outside is out of the question at this point. We spoke to a few friends, video-calling some others who live in the UK and the US to check up on them,” the actor concludes.

On work front, Emraan Hashmi will next be seen in Chehre, a mystery thriller co-starring megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Krystle D’Souza. Directed by Rumi Jaffery, the movie releases in 2020.
