From Emraan Hashmi's Dybbuk to Prithviraj Sukumaran's Bhramam, Amazon Prime Video announces its new line-up

Amazon Prime Video is one of the biggest streaming platforms. We have already watched some amazing movies and series on it, and recently, they announced their new line-up.

So, here’s a list of films and series that we will get to watch on Amazon Prime Video in the coming month…


Bhramam (Malayalam)

Prithviraj Sukumaran's Bhramam will be getting a direct-to-digital release on the streaming platform. This will be Prithviraj's third film in a row to get a release on Amazon Prime Video. Earlier, his movies Cold Case and Kuruthi were also premiered on the streamer. Bhraman is a remake of the Hindi film Andhadhun.

Udanpirappe (Tamil)

Tamil film Udanpirappe will be releasing on Amazon Prime Video in October. Directed by Era Saravanan, the movie stars Samuthirakani, Jyotika, and Kalaiyarasan.

Maradona: Blessed Dream (Series)

Maradona: Blessed Dream starring Esteban Recagno, Ezequiel Stremiz, and Luciano Vittori will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video on 29th October. The series revolves around the early life and prolific career of Argentinean football legend Diego Maradona.

One Mic Stand Season 2 (Series)

Season 1 of One Mic Stand made us laugh out loud. It featured celebs like Taapsee Pannu, Richa Chadha, and others. Now, season two of the series is all set to start streaming soon on the digital platform.

Dybbuk (Hindi)

There were reports that Emraan Hashmi starrer Dybbuk will get a direct-to-digital release. But now, with this announcement from Amazon Prime Video, it’s confirmed that the film will release on the streaming platform. The movie is a remake of the Malayalam movie Ezra.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (Series)

I Know What You Did Last Summer is a horror series based on the 1973 novel of the same name by Lois Duncan. It stars Madison Iseman, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, and Ashley Moore. The series will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 15th October 2021.

Sardar Udham (Hindi)

On Thursday (23), the makers of Sardar Udham announced that the movie will get a direct-to-digital release on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, it stars Vicky Kaushal and Banita Sandhu.

The Green Knight

Dev Patel starrer The Green Knight was released in the US in July this year. The David Lowery’s directorial will soon start streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Jai Bhim (Tamil)

Last on the list is Jai Bhim, a Tamil film, starring Suriya, Rajisha Vijayan and Lijomol Jose in lead roles. Directed by T. J. Gnanavel, it is slated to release on Amazon Prime Video on Diwali this year.

K Pop Star Wheesung, 43, found dead; police suspect drug overdose

South Korean singer-songwriter Wheesung, 43, was found dead at his home in northern Seoul on March 10. His mother, who lives in the same apartment complex, reportedly found him unresponsive and called for emergency help. Responders arrived at 6:29 p.m. KST, but he was already in cardiac arrest. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police are investigating the cause of death. While no foul play is suspected, the possibility of a drug overdose is being considered. Wheesung had previously faced legal issues over substance abuse. In 2021, he was given a suspended prison sentence for repeatedly using propofol, an anaesthetic often misused as a recreational drug.

In a recent interview with veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, Bollywood star Govinda revealed that he was once offered a role in James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster Avatar. According to Govinda, the Hollywood director offered him a whopping £1.7 M (Rs 18 crore) for the lead role, which eventually went to Sam Worthington. The actor also claimed that he was the one who suggested the film’s title to Cameron.

Govinda shared that the opportunity arose after a chance meeting with a Sikh businessman in the US. “I had given him a business idea that worked well for him. Years later, he introduced me to James Cameron,” he recalled. The two discussed the project over dinner, where Govinda proposed the title Avatar. However, he turned down the role after learning that the character was physically disabled. “James told me the hero was handicapped. I said, ‘I’m not doing this film,’” Govinda explained. He also expressed concerns about the physical demands of the role, including body paint which he felt would take a toll on his health.
