Fukrey 3 to start rolling in October?

The Excel Entertainment-produced comic-caper Fukrey, which hit the marquee in 2013, turned out to be the biggest surprise hit of the year. The success of the film helped Pulkit Samrat, Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal and Varun Sharma to find their footing in the industry.

Five years after the release of Fukrey, the team returned with its sequel titled Fukrey Returns (2017). Featuring the same actors on its ensemble cast, the comic-caper emerged as a much bigger hit that its predecessor as it went on to rack up more than ₹100 crore at the domestic box-office.

Now, rumours are floating around that the cast is reteaming for a third instalment of the immensely successful franchise. Though the entire Bollywood is shut down in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, some industry insiders reveal that producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment have been supervising the progress of Fukrey 3. Buzz also has it that the makers have recently asked the lead cast members to block their dates in the month of October for the shoot.

“The team, led by director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, had previously written multiple drafts, but they did not appeal to Farhan and Ritesh. When this idea was presented, they lapped it up, and the writers’ team soon sat down to develop it further. The production house has reached out to the principal actors, asking them to block their dates in October. Since the film requires combination dates of five actors, the studio felt it was best to sound them off in advance. The pre-production will kick off as soon as the current situation stabilises,” a source in the know informs a popular tabloid.
