HBO Max renews Mindy Kaling’s Sex Lives of College Girls for Season 3

Created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, the well-received drama series The Sex Lives of College Girls has been renewed for Season 3 at HBO Max.

The streamer announced the news on December 14, just ahead of the show’s season two finale.

“Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble continue to brilliantly capture the college experience in the most entertaining and relatable way," Suzanna Makkos, EVP of original comedy and adult animation at HBO Max, said in a statement. “This series is the perfect balance of comedy, sex, curiosity, and chaos, and we can't wait to see what the next season brings.”

The Sex Lives of College Girls follows four college roommates at New England’s prestigious Essex College. The 10-episode second season, which hit screens on November 17, picks up with the students returning after their fall break. It is set to conclude with the final two episodes of the season today on Thursday.

Ever since debuting on television, Season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls has been the top Max Original according to HBO Max, with last week’s release day setting a new record for the series by delivering an audience more than double that of the series launch in 2021.

The Sex Lives of College Girls features Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Reneé Rapp, and Alyah Chanelle Scott. Mekki Leeper, Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Lolo Spencer, Renika Williams, and Mitchell Slaggert on the ensemble cast.

The cast already has a bunch of fresh ideas in mind for what they would like to see in the forthcoming season. Talking to a publication, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, who plays Lila, previously told, "The little musical theater nerd in me would love a musical episode. We just have so many singers on the show, and I'm like, 'Please?' So I would love a musical episode next season. I think Justin [Noble] is down. We just have to convince Mindy [Kaling]. It doesn't even have to be a musical. It can be a fantasy like someone hits their head and they're daydreaming. I don't know. Get me in the writing room.”
