Here’s what Sanjay Dutt has to say about the failure of Kalank

Starring Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur in principal roles, Dharma Productions’ period drama Kalank was touted as one of the most anticipated films of 2019. However, when the movie hit the silver screen in April, the audience could not connect to it. Resultantly, Kalank turned out to be a massive disaster at the box-office, incurring a heavy loss to the makers.

Superstar Sanjay Dutt, who played a pivotal role in the film, recently opened up about the failure of the multi-starrer. “I know people were disappointed, but I only did this small role for my relationship with Yash (Johar) uncle and his production house, which goes back by several years. Even in the credits, it was mentioned as a special appearance,” said the superstar.

He went on to add that it was too small a role for him to feel anything, “It was too small a role for me to feel anything. Everyone tried their best, there was a lot of hard work involved,” he signed off.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt is looking forward to the release of his upcoming film Prassthanam. Apart from playing the male lead, he has also produced the film under his production house Sanjay S Dutt Productions. Besides him, Prassthanam also stars Jackie Shroff, Ali Fazal, Amyra Dastur and Manisha Koirala in important roles.

The much-anticipated film is an official remake of the 2010 Telugu language political action drama Prasthanam. Directed by Deva Katta, the movie is set to roll into theatres on 20th September. It will clash with Ayushmann Khurrana’s much-awaited romcom Dream Girl and debutant Karan Deol’s Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas.
