Hrithik Roshan approached for Karan Johar’s film on RAW founder

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who ended 2019 on a high note with his production venture Good Newwz setting new benchmarks at the box-office, kicked-off 2020 with the announcement of an ambitious espionage thriller. The untitled film will be based on the inspirational life of Rameshwar Nath Kao who founded India's external intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing.

Announcing the project on his Twitter handle, Johar had written, "Turning pages into frames, one thrill at a time. Bringing to you an adaptation of Nitin Gokhale's book R.N. Kao: Gentleman Spymaster to the silver screen. More information coming soon!"

The latest update on the forthcoming project is that superstar Hrithik Roshan has been approached to play the lead role in the film. According to sources, Junior Roshan has shown keen interest in the project. However, he has not signed it on the dotted line.

In addition to setting-up Research and Analysis Wing, Kao also founded the Joint Intelligence Committee and the Aviation Research Centre. He died it 2002. Karan Johar will co-produce the biographical film in association with Still & Still Media Collective.

Fans’ joy would know no bounds if Hrithik Roshan agrees to topline the film as he has not signed any project after the massive success of his Gandhi Jayanti release War (2019) alongside Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor. Bankrolled by Yash Raj Films, the action entertainer emerged as the highest grossing movie of 2019.

Roshan’s name is also being attached to Farah Khan’s next directorial, a rumoured remake of the 1982 cult classic Satte Pe Satta. However, the actor has not confirmed anything on that front. If he teams up with Karan Johar for his film on Kao, it will mark their reunion after eight years. The duo last worked together on Agneepath in 2012, which was a huge box-office hit.
