Janhvi Kapoor on constant limelight and media scrutiny

Janhvi Kapoor made her acting debut with Dharma Productions’ Dhadak in 2018, but she was a popular face even before the release of her first movie, all thanks to paparazzi that followed her almost everywhere. Just like every popular celebrity in the tinsel town of Bollywood, the newcomer regularly gets clicked.

In a recent interview, when Janhvi Kapoor was asked if she gets tired of being in the limelight all the time and getting scrutinised about her gym clothes, she said, “No. In fact, it is so funny because after Dhadak, there are people that come up to me and say, ‘Oh, we loved your first film’, and then there are those who are like, ‘Oh my God, I follow your gym looks all the time’. So, it is like I am known for Dhadak and I am known for my gym looks, too. It is weird but I cannot blame them. My films have not released yet. I have just been working. And I hope once they do, people will talk about my films, and associate me with them than my gym shorts.”

It has been almost two years since Kapoor entered the filmdom with Dhadak. After having no release in 2019, she is now looking forward to 2020 wherein she will be seen in some interesting projects including Kargil Girl, Roohi Afzana and Dostana 2. The actress says that she feels extremely fortunate to have gotten such great opportunities.

“I feel extremely fortunate that I have gotten to know myself more as an actor and as a person over these two years, and it has defined my taste in cinema and altered the way I want to look at the films I want to do,” said the 22-year-old actress in conclusion.

In addition to the aforementioned films, Janhvi Kapoor is also doing filmmaker Karan Johar’s next directorial venture Takht. Also starring Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Bhumi Pednekar and Alia Bhatt in principal roles, the period drama releases in 2021.
