Janhvi Kapoor to romance southern heartthrob Vijay Deverakonda?

Janhvi Kapoor, who enthralled us with her mesmeric performance in her debut film Dhadak (2018), is gearing up for a foray into the South Indian film industry. Yes, you heard it absolutely right!

According to reports, the newcomer has given her nod to star in a Telugu film to be directed by renowned filmmaker Puri Jagannadh. What makes the news even more exciting is the fact and Janhvi Kapoor will be pairing up with Arjun Reddy (2017) star Vijay Deverakonda in the untitled film.

We also hear that Dharma Productions' head honcho Karan Johar, who launched Janhvi Kapoor with Dhadak, has come on board as the presenter of the film. According to reports, it was KJo who suggested Janhvi's name to the director of the film.

Spilling some more details on the project, a source in the know informs a publication that even Alia Bhatt and Ananya Panday were approached for the project. "Even actresses such as Alia Bhatt and Ananya Pandey were approached for the part, but things did not materialise. However, Karan Johar was instrumental in getting Janhvi Kapoor on board. The actress is still working her date diary, and in all probability, she might commence shooting in February," says the source.

Meanwhile, Janhvi is looking forward to the premiere of Ghost Stories, a Netflix film which marks her digital debut. The anthology film sees the coming together of Indian cinema's four prominent filmmakers, Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap. It will premiere on Netflix on January 1, 2020. Her next release will be Kargil Girl, a biographical drama bankrolled by Dharma Productions.
