Jet Airways grounds 41 aircraft with four more planes

INDIA’S troubled airline, Jet Airways, said today (18) that it has grounded four more aircraft and would delay paying interest on maturing debt.

With the grounding of four more planes on Monday (18), the number of grounded aircraft has reached 41, a third of its entire fleet.

In a fresh sign of the worsening financial condition of the company, the airline added that it would delay paying interest to its debenture holder, due on March 19, owing to financial difficulties.

The airline's founder, Naresh Goyal, earlier said his company was on a mission for a bailout plan, led by state-run lenders and Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways.
