John Abraham on steering clear of adult comedies

Ever since making his acting debut with superhit erotic thriller Jism in 2003, John Abraham has proved his versatility by headlining films in different genres. From action movies to romcoms to out-and-out comic-capers, the actor has done it all in his one-and-a-half-decade long career! However, he has always kept a safe distance from starring in adult-comedies.

Talking to a publication, Abraham stated that he can neither produce nor star in adult comedies. “What I can never do is an adult-comedy, because I am not comfortable with it. It is something I cannot act or even produce,” he said.

John Abraham ventured in film production with Ayushmann Khurrana’s sensational blockbuster Vicky Donor (2012), which went on to receive the prestigious National Film Award. The actor-turned-producer has produced several notable movies over the years.

“When people see a film made by my production house, they should know that they will get to see something different. But as an actor, it is essential to do all kinds of films. Movies like Pagalpanti (2019) and Satyameva Jayate are the ones that I want to purely act in, whereas films like Parmanu and Batla House (2019) are the sorts that I will produce and act in,” he added.

When asked why he does not act in the films which he produces under his production house, Abraham explained, “The thought is not to power a film with my presence, but to create something entirely new. My vision is to tell great stories through films, but not necessarily with me in all of them.”

John Abraham will next be seen in Mumbai Saga, Attack and Satyamev Jayate 2.

Akshay Kumar tells King Charles to watch Kesari 2: “You’ll know why the British should say sorry”

Akshay Kumar isn’t asking for an apology. He just wants the British to look back and really see what happened. With his upcoming film Kesari Chapter 2 hitting screens on April 18, the actor is urging both the UK government and King Charles to watch the film and confront a dark chapter in colonial history.

The film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and based on The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu and Pushpa Palat, tells the story of C. Sankaran Nair, a Malayali lawyer who took legal action against General Dyer and the British government after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. The massacre when British troops opened fire on a peaceful crowd remains one of the most horrific events of British rule in India.

Ageing Icon or Fading Star? Salman Khan’s outdated onscreen avatar sparks criticism in yet another box-office debacle

Salman Khan is stuck in the past

There have been many instances across generations where once-popular leading men, unwilling to grow old gracefully, have clung to past glories so desperately that they have ended up dismantling their own legacies.

These ageing Bollywood idols continued romancing inappropriately young heroines, playing roles far removed from their real age, and starring in outdated movies where their presence mattered more than the storyline.
