John Abraham starrer Attack eyeing an Independence Day release

Last seen in Anees Bazmee’s comic-caper Pagalpanti (2019), Bollywood star John Abraham has a couple of exciting projects lined-up for release in 2020. One of his hugely anticipated movies is Attack, which he is co-producing as well.

The latest we hear that Attack will hit theatres on 15th August, 2020. After occupying the Independence Day weekend over the past couple of years, Abraham has reportedly decided to stick to the tradition by releasing his next film on the special weekend this year as well.

Co-starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh, Attack is an action thriller based on a rescue mission led by a lone ranger officer. The film has been directed by Lakshya Raj Anand, who will be making his directorial debut on the silver screen.

Spilling some beans on the release date of the film, the director informs a publication, “It is always a conscious decision to release John Abraham’s film on August 15. His last outings Batla House (2019) and Satyameva Jayate (2018) also saw the dawn on the same day. I feel like this date belongs to him.”

The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has hugely impacted Bollywood, what with several big-ticket movies missing their theatrical release dates. Talking about the uncertainty over release dates of forthcoming movies, Anand says, “Right now, I cannot say anything at all. It depends on the prevailing lockdown situation. Once work resumes, only then we will know where we stand and what our further course of action will be.”

In Attack, John Abraham will be reuniting with Jacqueline Fernandez after Dishoom (2016) and will share the screen space with Rakul Preet Singh for the first time. The actor will also be seen in Sanjay Gupta’s gangster drama Mumbai Saga.
