Kangana Ranaut to head off to Manali to prepare herself for Jayalalithaa biopic

After facing a lot of controversies and also a ban from a certain section of the media, Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao’s much-awaited film Judgementall Hai Kya (2019) arrived in cinemas today. The movie received good response from most of the critics and is expected to open well commercially.

The latest we hear that after the release of Judgementall Hai Kya, Kangana is planning to go to her hometown Manali. If you thought that the actress is taking a short break for vacation, let us tell you that she is heading off to her hometown to prep for her next multilingual film Thalaivi, a biopic on the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.


According to reports, the makers and creative team of the biopic will join the actress in Himachal Pradesh in early August. The team will first start with the look tests and workshops. The project, to be directed by AL Vijay, is expected to hit the shooting floor by the end of September.

Confirming the development, producer Shaailesh R Singh says, "Kangana has already started her Tamil classes for the biopic. Now, she will head to Manali to kick-start her prep that will include studying Jayalalithaa's body language and doing look tests. My team, including the writers, and I will travel there, too."

Singh goes on to add, "We are in talks with the makeup and prosthetics teams of Gary Oldman's Darkest Hour (2017). We intend to get the best team on board, and lots of international technicians will be involved. We will begin shoot in Mysore, and then move to Chennai and Mumbai."

According to reports, several other projects based on the eventful life of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa are in the work. Apart from Kangana Ranaut’s film Thalaivi, there is The Iron Lady, with Nithya Menen in the lead, and directed by Priyadarshini.
