Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has retained India's national capital for the third term.
As per the latest trends, AAP is all set to sweep the 70-seat Delhi assembly. Five years ago AAP had won 67 seats in Delhi.
Retaining a majority since the beginning of the counting, AAP was leading in 63 seats, while the main opposition BJP was reduced to seven seats.
Arvind Kejriwal dedicated the victory to 'Kaam ki Rajnneti' (Politics of Work). He opined that it is the victory of 'Mother India'.
Arvind Kejriwal also thanked Lord Hanuman after Delhi voted overwhelmingly in his party's favour.
“This is the day of Lord Hanuman who has blessed the people of Delhi. We pray that Hanuman Ji keeps showing the right path to us so that we continue to serve people for the next five years,” he said.
Interestingly, Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal celebrated her birthday on Tuesday (11).
Kejriwal thanked the people of Delhi for ensuring AAP’s third term in the national capital. He thanked people for trusting “their son (Arvind Kejriwal)” yet again.
Indian National Congress, which was in power in the city-state for 15 years lost its deposit in more than 60 seats.
BJP, which claimed to win 55 seats, increased its seat tally from three, five years ago, to seven.
