Kriti Sanon learns Marathi for her historical film Panipat

Actress Kriti Sanon, who is known to do everything possible to get into the skin of her character, is gearing up to essay perhaps the most challenging character of her acting career to date.

Last seen in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s slice-of-life film Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017), Sanon is about to commence the shoot for ace filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s next magnum opus, Panipat.

Also starring Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Mohnish Bahl and Padmini Kolhapure in important roles, Panipat is a historical period drama which revolves around the third battle of Panipat which took place on 14 January 1761, between Marathas and King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali.

Kriti Sanon plays a Maratha queen in the movie and to perfect her part, she has started taking Marathi lessons. After completing her work for her next Housefull 4, the actress squeezes out time to learn Marathi on a daily basis.

Talking about her preparation for her role in the movie, Sanon reveals, "There is a certain way that my character speaks in Panipat. There is a strong Marathi flavour and since I’m born and brought up in Delhi, it’s new for me. And since there is not much time between the schedules of Housefull 4 and Panipat, so I have already started my lessons."

Besides Panipat and Housefull 4, Kriti Sanon has a number of exciting projects on her platter. She has just wrapped the shoot of Dinesh Vijan’s comic-caper Luka Chuppi opposite Kartik Aaryan. Her film Arjun Patiala with Diljit Dosanjh is ready to release early next year.
