Krushna Abhishek on skipping The Kapil Sharma Show for an episode featuring Uncle Govinda

By: Mohnish Singh

Actor and stand-up comedian Krushna Abhishek will not be seen in an upcoming episode of his popular show The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony Entertainment Television. Reason? Well, the said episode features his maternal uncle, superstar Govinda, as a guest and since the two do not share a healthy relationship after a public fallout in 2018, Krushna decided not to perform in front of him.

Last year, Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja had refused to share the stage with Krushna and this time, the comedian said that he had reservations. “I learned about Chi Chi mama coming on the show around 10 days ago. Since Sunita mami was not accompanying him, the team thought that I would have no qualms performing. However, the incident has left a bad taste in my mouth. Last year, she did not want me to perform in front of them, but this time, I had reservations,” Krushna told a publication.

He went on to add, “I had a strong relationship with mama, and the enmity has affected me badly. When the relationship between two people is strained, it is difficult to perform comedy. Besides, mama might take offense to my jokes. Good comedy needs a conducive environment. I can vouch that it would have been like a house on fire even if I had performed as Krushna and not Sapna with mama. I could have paid tribute to him on the show.”

Krushna Abhishek and Govinda's relationship hit rock bottom because of an old tweet by the former’s wife Kashmera Shah about “people who dance for money”. This had not gone down well with Govinda’s wife who felt it was meant for her superstar husband.
