Megha Chakraborty: How can one say no to a character like Mastani!

After appearing in television shows like Badi Devrani and Khwaabon Ki Zamin Par, actress Megha Chakraborty is currently seen as Mastani in Sony Entertainment Television's historical show, Peshwa Bajirao.

The show, which is based on the life of great Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao I, also stars Karan Suchak and Ishita Ganguly in lead roles. After the show took a generation leap a couple of months back, Megha was roped in to play the role of Mastani.

When we asked Megha what made her give a nod to the show, she says, "When I was told I was going to play Mastani, the same character which Deepika Padukone played in the film, Bajirao Mastani, I did not think of anything and immediately agreed to come onboard. I mean, how can one say no to a character like this! When I was offered the role, I could not believe. It took me a long time to believe that I was indeed going to play Mastani."

Everyone, who heads to Mumbai to become an actor, wants to work in films. On being asked if she is interested in films, Megha does not minces her words and says, Yes, I am interested in doing films. Which artist does not want to do films? If I get a good role in any of the film being made by a reputed banner, I am definitely ready to do it."

Megha wants to work with Shah Rukh Khan, the epitome of eternal romance. "I want to share screen space with Shah Rukh Khan. I don't know when my dream will come true. No matter how long or short my role is, I just want to stand beside him in the same frame and mouth one or two dialogues."

When asked if she is given a chance to star in the remake of any classic film, which film and role she would pick up, she says, "If Shah Rukh is ready to become Devdas again, I would love to be his Paro in the remake of Devdas."

The actress is keen on working with some of the most sought-after filmmakers of Indian cinema. "Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Basu are some of the directors I want to work with."
