Milap Zaveri hopeful about rolling Satyameva Jayate 2 by April-end

Writer-turned-director Milap Zaveri, who has proved his mettle by delivering such box-office hits as Satyamev Jayate (2018) and Marjaavaan (2019), was psyched up about commencing the first shooting schedule of his next directorial Satyamev Jayate 2, a sequel to his 2018 film Satyamev Jayate, in April.

But since all production activities have come to a halt in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, it seems almost impossible for the filmmaker to take off the film on time. However, Zaveri is choosing to maintain an optimistic stance and is waiting for things to return to normalcy as soon as possible.

Talking to a tabloid, Milap Zaveri says, "As soon as things get back to normal, we will dive into the shoot of Satyameva Jayate 2. We were to start our Mumbai schedule in April-end. We are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping that we will be able to (stick to that date).”

Right after the government of India imposed a complete lockdown to stop the spread of the Coronavirus, the release dates of several Bollywood biggies are being rejigged. When asked if he is also planning to defer the release date of his film, the director says, "The film was announced as an October 2 release, and we have not pushed our date so far. We are doing everything we can to ensure that the film releases on that day. Even if we go on floors by May, we will be on schedule."

While Satyamev Jayate 2 is yet to hit the shooting floor, Milap has cracked an idea for the next instalment of the franchise. "I have cracked the idea for the third part. It has (the same theme of) fighting corruption."

Satyamev Jayate 2 stars John Abraham in the lead role. Divya Khosla Kumar will be seen as his love interest in the film.
