Nimrat Kaur joins Abhishek Bachchan and Yami Gautam on the cast of Dasvi

According to reports, Nimrat Kaur has been roped in to play the second female lead in producer Dinesh Vijan’s next production venture which he is bankrolling under Maddock Films. Titled Dasvi, the forthcoming film already stars Abhishek Bachchan and Yami Gautam in central characters, and now Kaur has also joined the primary cast.

Spilling some more beans, a source close to the development informs a premier entertainment magazine, “It is a concept-driven film called Dasvi, which Abhishek really liked. There will be two heroines in the film. Yami Gautam had been locked for the film much before. And now, Nimrat Kaur has been roped in as the second female lead as well. The plot is not known, but it is an original script, and Dinu’s team wanted a strong cast of really credible actors for the same.”

The film will be directed by Tushar Jalota who has been working in the industry as an assistant director for the past 16 years. He has assisted several renowned filmmakers, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali on such super hit films as Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela (2013) and Padmaavat (2018) and Anurag Basu on Barfi (2012) and Murder (2004). He will be making his directorial debut with the upcoming film.

If Nimrat Kaur has indeed signed Dinesh Vijan’s Dasvi on the dotted line, it will mark her silver screen comeback after a long gap of four years. In Bollywood, the actress was last seen in Raja Krishna Menon’s Airlift (2016) opposite superstar Akshay Kumar, which was one of the most successful films of the year it released in. Her last acting credit was Ekta Kapoor’s successful web show The Test Case (2017) which is returning with a season 2 soon.
