No Christmas holiday for Shamshera cast

While everyone is looking forward to having loads of fun during the festivities of Christmas, Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and several other cast members of the forthcoming YRF movie Shamshera will be shooting without any break.

“Ranbir, Vaani as well as the other cast members of Shamshera won’t get a Christmas holiday. Karan (director) and the entire crew have found a great rhythm and they are working at great pace to finish the schedule as planned,” a source close to the development reveals.

The source goes on to add, “The gigantic set that has been created for Ranbir will also need to be altered for the second schedule. So, the entire crew is working on a tight deadline to wrap the shoot and then start construction for the second schedule. Ranbir and Vaani are the two primary cast members who will not get a break on December 25.”

To be produced by Yash Raj Films, Shamshera also features superstar Sanjay Dutta in the lead role. He is yet to start shooting for the film, though.

The movie is expected to enter theatres in July 2020.

Highlights:

  • Government to criminalise porn that shows strangulation or suffocation during sex.
  • Part of wider plan to fight violence against women and online harm.
  • Tech firms will be forced to block such content or face heavy Ofcom fines.
  • Experts say the ban responds to medical evidence and years of campaigning.

You see it everywhere now. In mainstream pornography, a man’s hands around a woman’s neck. It has become so common that for many, especially the young, it just seems like part of sex, a normal step. The UK government has decided it should not be, and soon, it will be a crime.

The plan is to make possessing or distributing pornographic material that shows sexual strangulation, often called ‘choking’, illegal. This is a specific amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill. Ministers are acting on the back of a stark, independent review. That report found this kind of violence is not just available online, but it is rampant. It has quietly, steadily, become normalised.
