Nominations for Asian Business Awards open

NOMINATIONS for Eastern Eye’s annual Asian Business Awards are now open.

Hosted by the Asian Media Group, publishers of Eastern Eye and Garavi Gujarat, the Asian Business Awards is the biggest celebration of the community’s entrepreneurship in Britain, and highlight talent, drive and passion synonymous within the sector.


The deadline for entries will be Monday, December 2.

There are 13 award categories to choose from. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Friday March 20, 2020 in central London.

The awards also sees the launch of the Asian Rich List - a compilation of the top 101 wealthiest Asian business-people in the UK.

Past winners include Dishoom founder Shamil Thakrar, Hallmark Care Homes’s Avnish Goyal, and Zuber & Mohsin Issa from Euro Garages Ltd.

Court reopens Asian child sex offender's deportation case

A PAKISTANI man convicted of sexually assaulting a child under 13 will face a fresh deportation hearing after the Home Office successfully challenged a ruling that allowed him to remain in Britain, reported The Times.

INDIA has swiftly responded to the devastating earthquake in Myanmar by launching Operation Brahma, sending emergency relief and rescue teams to the disaster-stricken nation.

A C-130J military transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force landed in Yangon on Saturday (29), carrying 15 tonnes of relief supplies including hygiene kits, blankets and food parcels.
