“Open to good scripts and roles,” says Esha Deol

Esha Deol, who is the daughter of legendary Bollywood actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini, plunged into show business with Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe (2002). Despite being part of several commercially successful movies such as Dhoom (2004), Dus (2005), No Entry (2005), Kaal (2005), and One Two Three (2008), the actress could never set her foot firmly in Bollywood. In 2012, she married her boyfriend Bharat Takhtani and bid adieu to the filmdom.

She made her acting comeback with the Ram Kamal Mukherjee-directed short film Cakewalk (2018), which won her rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. She even recently bagged the Best Actress Award at MTV IWMBUZZ Digital Awards and the Society Iconic Indian Award for her phenomenal performance in the film.

Buoyed up by the response for her performance in the short film, Esha Deol is on the lookout for good scripts and roles after her comeback post marriage and motherhood. “I am open to good scripts and roles. If I am doing something then it has to be of some worth. I don’t want to do the same kind of roles that I have played in my earlier movies,” says the actress.

In Cakewalk, the actress plays the character of a Kolkata-based chef named Shilpa Sen. “I knew people would watch Shilpa Sen and her journey. When Ram Kamal narrated the story, I decided that this story will touch the hearts of working women,” Esha recalls.

The 38-year-old actress is a mother to two daughters. When asked how does she plan to balance motherhood and her professional life, she says she can give due attention to both. “I am a completely different person today because of my lovely daughters. I would like to continue my work and also make sure that I give my hundred percent to my daughters. I will take them along to my shoots and spend time when I am not working,” said the actress in conclusion.
