Prity Bhattacharjee wins popular singing reality show Superstar Singer

Sony Entertainment Television’s popular singing reality show Superstar Singer came to a conclusion with the announcement of its winner on Sunday, October 6. Kolkata based 9-year-old singer Prity Bhattacharjee emerged as the winner of the first edition of the show.

Apart from winning the coveted title, Prity also took home a prize money of Rs. 15 lakhs. The other six finalists of the show were awarded Rs 2 lakh each as their educational fund.


The finale of Superstar Singer also included performances by judges Alka Yagnik, Himesh Reshammiyaan and Javed Ali. The Kapil Sharma Show teammates Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda also tickled the funny bones of the audience with their performances. The finale also witnessed the presence of veteran music composer Pyarelal.

Sharing her excitement on winning Superstar Singer, Prity Bhattacharjee said, “I am too overwhelmed to say anything right now. This is a huge thing for me. I never thought I would get the opportunity to showcase my talent on such a big platform, leave alone winning the first edition of Superstar Singer. It is like a dream come true for me and this feeling will take time to sink in.”

Thanking all the judges and captains on the show, she added, “I will always be thankful to the judges and captains for honing my skills and to Sony Entertainment Television to give me a platform to perform in front of legends of the music industry and meet so many stars. And more than anything else, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude towards the audience who voted for all of us wholeheartedly. All the contestants and the judges have become like a family now and I have a lump in my throat now that the show is coming to an end. I hope that all of us can keep in touch from here on.”
