After assisting a number of directors on several Yash Raj Films’ ventures, Zafar made his directorial debut with the Katrina Kaif, Ali Zafar and Imran Khan starrer romantic comedy Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011). The film turned out to be a success at the box-office, and there has been no looking back for him ever since.

After the success of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Ali Abbas Zafar has directed several blockbusters including Gunday (2014), Sultan (2016), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Bharat (2019). If recent reports are anything to go by, the director is now venturing into the digital space. His debut webseries is titled Tandav.

According to reports, Ali Abbas Zafar has begun the casting process for the series and the first actor who has reportedly been signed on to be a part of the show is extremely talented Purab Kohli. According to reports, Kohli will be playing an important character in the webseries.

Tandav will not be the first webseries Kohli is going to be a part of. He was most recently seen in well-known filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh’s Netflix original Typewriter (2019). The actor received a lot of praises for his excellent performance in the series. He has reportedly signed on to a few other digital series.

Tandav is a political thriller based in Delhi. We hear that aside from Purab Kohli, several other cast members have also been locked to play important characters in the series, but no official announcement has been made.

Ali Abbas Zafar is directing Tandav for one of the leading streamers, Amazon Prime Video. More details on the project are awaited.
