‘Representation matters,’ says Priyanka Chopra as she wishes ‘luck and love’ to Farhan Akhtar and team Ms Marvel

Global icon Priyanka Chopra took to Instagram Stories to give Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new streaming show Ms Marvel a big shout-out. The Disney+ Hotstar series, which premiered on June 8, stars Iman Vellani as MCU’s newest superhero. Bollywood actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, who has collaborated with Chopra on multiple projects, features in a cameo in the much-talked-about series.

The Quantico star composed a note for the Ms Marvel team and expressed her excitement and applauded the makers for including and reflecting South Asian actors and culture.


Reposting the trailer of the series on IG Story, Chopra wrote, “So exciting! I love @msmarvelofficial and am so excited to see it come to life. Wishing my friends and everyone involved so much luck and love. #Represntationmatters.”

She also tagged the cast members of Ms Marvel - Iman Vellani, Farhan Akhtar, Fawad Khan, Aramis Knight, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Matt Lintz, and Yasmeen Fletcher.

The actress-producer continued by encouraging people to watch the show, stating, “Go watch #MsMarvel now!”

Akhtar’s wife, Shibani Dandekar, also gave him a sweet shoutout. She shared the teaser featuring Farhan and urged fans to stream the series.

In the teaser, Farhan was seen wearing a robe in shades of yellow and red. He sports a full-grown beard and long tresses which are tied back into a pony. In the teaser, he tells Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan: “What you seek is seeking you," as she explores her alter superhero ego.

Ms Marvel, which has been creating a lot of buzz even before the project started rolling, stars Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, the titular heroine, a Muslim American adolescent growing up in Jersey City.

Police say Bondi Beach attacker moved to Australia from India

INDIAN police said on Tuesday (16) that one of the two gunmen behind Australia's Bondi Beach mass shootings, Sajid Akram, was an Indian citizen who had left the country 27 years ago.

Akram and his son Naveed - who is listed on Australian immigration records as an Australian citizen, according to authorities - opened fire on people celebrating the Jewish festival of Hanukkah last Sunday (14), killing 15.
