Riz Ahmed’s ‘Fingernails’ to close Karlovy Vary Festival

The 58th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) is set to culminate with a remarkable closing night, showcasing the much-talked-about film Fingernails, starring Riz Ahmed and Jessie Buckley.

This year’s festival promises to deliver a memorable conclusion with this thought-provoking and emotionally charged film.

Fingernails, directed by Christos Nikou, who is making his English-language debut, has generated significant buzz within the film community. Nikou’s film delves into the complexities of love, relationships, and the human condition.

The festival organisers described the film as an 'unusual romance' and called Riz Ahmed and Jesse Buckley's performances 'disarming'.

In addition to Ahmed and Buckley, Fingernails also features Jeremy Allen White, Luke Wilson, Christian Meer, Amanda Arcuri, Annie Murphy, Katy Breier, Clare McConnell, Nina Kiri, Jim Watson, Varun Saranga, and Juno Rinaldi in important roles.

Written by Nikou, Sam Steiner, and Stavros Raptis, the film is produced by Nikou, Coco Francini, Andrew Upton, Cate Blanchett, and Lucas Wiesendanger.

The nine-day-long festival runs from June 28 to July 6.
