Russian president Vladimir Putin, accompanied by a high-level delegation has arrived in New Delhi on Thursday (4) on a two-day-long visit to India to hold an annual bilateral summit with prime minister Narendra Modi.
Putin was received by India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj.
The 19th India-Russia annual bilateral meeting will be held here on Friday (5) during which Modi and Putin are likely to review defense co-operation between the two countries in the wake of the US sanctions against Russian defence giants.
Putin and Modi are also expected to discuss on key regional and global issues, including US sanctions on import of Iranian crude oil, persisting trade war tensions in the global market, and others.
The major highlight during the discussion will be on the S-400 Triumf air defense missile system agreement, with a top Kremlin aide saying Tuesday (3) that Russian president will supervise the signing of the $5 billion agreement.
